Day 6 of Archer’s progress

Archer is coming along nicely, he is such a beautiful cat, with a lovely personality. I truely don’t understand how anyone could have surrendered him and worse treated him badly. It is times like this when I wish I talked cat!

Today I decided to create a larger ‘safe’ area for Archer to explore. His room opens out to a hallway where all doors can be shut, apart from the living area, which I have a pet gate across. This area creates an excellent area for him to explore without completely shutting him off.

Archer is pretty relaxed about it all. He spends most of the day asleep under his bed until I disturb him for cuddles.

I take him to my computer where he can chill on my lap, Oscar and Milly are outside enjoying the sunshine; Little Miss is sat on a chair next to me (her normal position). She doesn’t seem bothered about Archer in my arms; they even have a little kiss! I’m amazed. Then it all switches and she starts grumbling again. I say grumbling because it is not quite a growl, its like she is muttering to herself under her breath; Archer follows suit.

Later on in the evening, I leave him be. With the door open, Archer soon starts exploring on his own free will. I gather some toys in the hallway and the scratch post (Archer seems to think the mat outside his door is one!) to entertain/ distract them.

Archer is enticed out by playing with him, Oscar and Milly are asleep on my bed; Little Miss joins us – she can’t resist toys! She plays, she grumbles, it’s kinda funny.  Archer occasionally retaliates if Little Miss she gets in his face but relatively relaxed about the whole experience. However, I am soon surprised, Archer finds a new confidence and wanders off exploring into the other cat’s room. By this point, Oscar and Milly have surfaced. Oscar moves upon his window ledge watching, Milly moves to the other side of the gate, keeping a beady eye on everyone.

The same routine seems to happen; Little Miss plays; Archer Plays; Little Miss growls; Archer growls; they play separately; they attempt to play together and hiss; they confront each other; they hiss and snarl some more – or relatively harmless at this point and extremely fascinating to watch but I’m not quite sure who is winning!

Soon they became a too aggressive for my liking, so I put Archer to bed as I  am impressed with his progress- and he is sooo oooh cute!
