Day 1 – Archer my new (v.scared) foster Kitty

Welcome to Archer, this poor fur baby is my new foster. We are not sure of his previous experiences but he was not coping very well in the cat shelter, hiding away from all the prospective adoptees, so I have taken him in for a bit of respite.

DAY ONE

I brought him home in his cat carrier; he didn’t seem to stressed, just extremely wary watching my every move.

I decided to convert my bathroom to his space; the bath can be a great big bed for him, filled with towels and sheets to make in comfy, plus being deep the walls of the bath give him a little security. The floor is tiled so any mishaps it’s easily cleaned plus there is a fan, so I can distract him from the noises my other fur babies make.

I set up the room and left Archer in his box (with the door off). I pop my head in after a few hours to see how he was – no movement, he is still in his carrier box.

I haven’t approached him as the poor guy is squished himself up into the back of his box, as far away as possible from the entrance. I spot his beady eyes watching me in the gaps of the carrier. I decide to leave him, placed a few biscuits near him and turn in for the night.

The minute the light is off, there was an almighty crash – poor Archer must have decided to explore, but knocked over some things which freaked him out as I ran into the bathroom he was hissing and spitting and crouched in the corner. I couldn’t leave him, so I gently talked to him reassuring him and put his food bowl near him as a peace offering.

I cleaned up the mess, as he had knocked food and litter all over the place, re-set his bed and left him be.

Lets hope tomorrow he comes out of his shell a bit more…
